I flew in Clipper Fairwind from JFK to LAX in late November 1988 going back to college in California after Thanksgiving break. Ex- Singapore Airlines. Very clean. We left JFK about 8 AM EST. As we were beginning our descent into LA out over the desert about 10 AM PST, the heat waves rising from the caused turbulence in the clear air with the sun shining. I remember seeing Hoover Dam. And after we landed, I saw the captain standing by the circular stairs in his navy blue with brass buttons and he looked like the captain of a clipper ship I thought. MKO
